Senator Steve Daines successfully led a bipartisan resolution through the U.S. Senate, designating April 20, 2024, through April 28, 2024, as National Park Week. The resolution aims to celebrate the country's national parks and encourage public engagement in their preservation and exploration.

In a statement, Senator Daines emphasized the significance of preserving national treasures, stating, "Montana is home to some of the world’s best and most beautiful national parks, recreation areas, battlefields and historic sites. Preserving these treasures means preserving the beauty and history that sets us apart, which is why each year we mark this week National Park Week. I’ll always work to preserve our parks for future generations to explore and enjoy.”

The National Park Week celebration will kick off with free entrance into all national park units on Saturday, April 20. The week-long event will feature various themes for each day, including volunteering opportunities, Earth Day celebrations, exploration of innovation in national parks, appreciation for the workforce behind the National Park Service, youth engagement initiatives, community connections, Junior Ranger Day for young enthusiasts, and a focus on arts in parks.

Throughout the week, individuals are encouraged to participate in activities that showcase the diverse aspects and importance of national parks in the United States. From learning about historical innovations to engaging with local communities and fostering youth involvement, National Park Week aims to highlight the beauty and significance of these natural and cultural landmarks.

By passing this bipartisan resolution, Senator Daines and his colleagues in the U.S. Senate have reaffirmed their commitment to preserving and promoting the country's national parks for the enjoyment and education of present and future generations.
