The Municipal Court in Great Falls will hold its annual Canned Food Day on Friday, December 5, 2025. The event runs from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and gives defendants making monthly payments on fines the opportunity to donate canned food instead of their December payment.

Participants can receive credit for one month’s payment toward their fines by donating ten non-perishable food items. The maximum credit allowed is $50 or one month’s payment, regardless of how many cans are donated.

Certain individuals are not eligible for this program. These include those who are not current on their fines, are paying only restitution, have accounts in collections for the entire balance owed, have an active warrant, are under a deferred prosecution agreement, or are completing community service in lieu of fines.

All collected food will be donated to the Great Falls Community Food Bank. Volunteers from Set Free Ministries will help collect food during the event. Set Free Ministries has supported this initiative for over a decade.

All donations must be non-perishable items. If it is later determined that a defendant is not eligible to participate, donated food will not be returned. For further information about eligibility or participation, contact the Municipal Court at 406-771-1380.
