Great Falls Park & Recreation has announced a new event called the “Parade of Lights Caper,” a free scavenger hunt taking place along the River’s Edge Trail from November 27 to November 30. The activity is designed as a family-friendly mystery game in which participants help solve the disappearance of Santa’s sleigh, which has gone missing from the Park & Recreation storage area just before the city’s annual Parade of Lights.
The event transforms the River’s Edge Trail into an interactive game board, with clues featuring suspects, evidence, and notable local spots hidden along the path. Participants are tasked with narrowing down their options until they identify one suspect, one location, and one item connected to the sleigh’s disappearance.
“This is a fun, creative way to get families outdoors during the holiday season,” said Arthur Smovir, Trails Coordinator. “It’s part story, part puzzle, and fully Great Falls.”
Participants can obtain a Clue Tracker by downloading it from the Parks & Rec website or picking up a copy at 1700 River Drive North. Those who successfully solve the caper will be entered into a prize drawing for items such as gift cards to local businesses and passes to the Great Falls Recreation Center.
Leading up to Thanksgiving, additional hints—including character profiles and location teasers—will be shared on both the department’s website and its Facebook Event Page.
The event encourages residents of all ages to explore outdoors while engaging in a seasonal activity that highlights local landmarks.
