Great Falls plans household hazardous waste collection event for residents

The City of Great Falls Public Works Environmental Division is organizing a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event in collaboration with Veolia North America. The event will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., just south of the Great Falls Police Department at 112 1st St. S.

Residents are encouraged to bring items such as antifreeze, gasoline, lighter fluid, paint thinner, road flares, shellac, fertilizer, furniture polish, insect spray, cleaners, disinfectants, hair remover and nail polish for safe disposal. However, latex-based paint products will not be accepted at this event. Those with questions about disposing of latex-based paint can contact Public Works Environmental at 406-455-8143.

According to organizers, “The goal of the Household Hazardous Waste Event is to ensure the safe and compliant management and disposal of household hazardous waste. As such, commercial waste from businesses will not be accepted.”

“This event is to ensure the safe and compliant management or disposal of household chemicals and hazardous waste for the residents of Great Falls,” according to event details.

Only residential hazardous waste will be collected; commercial or business-generated materials are not eligible for drop-off.
