Registration for the 46th Annual Ice Breaker Road Race in Great Falls, Montana will open on January 1, 2026. The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 26, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., and will feature races of one, three, and five miles through downtown Great Falls, along the River’s Edge Trail, and across the Missouri River.

Participants can choose to run any of the three distances or all three races. Early Bird Registration is available until March 31, with fees set at $25 per adult for the first race and $5 for each additional race; youth registration is $15. After April 1, fees increase to $35 per adult and $25 per youth. All runners will receive a long sleeve race t-shirt, a finisher’s medal, post-race refreshments provided by Pepsi, and an opportunity to win door prizes. Top finishers in each age category will be awarded cash prizes or gift cards donated by Scheels of Great Falls.

Packet pickup—including shirts and bibs—will take place at the Great Falls Civic Center on Saturday, April 25, and again on race day. Registration options include online sign-up or in-person registration at both the Great Falls Park and Recreation office (1700 River Dr. N) and the Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic and Recreation Center (900 29th St. S).

Jessica Compton, Park & Recreation Deputy Director for Great Falls, said: “Thank you to this year’s sponsors, who have made this event possible. The generous sponsors of the race are Benefis, Scheels of Great Falls, and Pepsi.”

Volunteers are needed for various tasks such as packet pickup assistance, street closures management, post-race awards distribution, and more. Volunteers will receive a race t-shirt and goody bag. Those interested can sign up online or contact organizers by phone at 406-771-1265 or via email at parkrequests@greatfallsmt.net.

Great Falls is known for its location along the Missouri River where a series of waterfalls influenced its founding in 1884 by Paris Gibson (official website). The city has developed around these natural features and continues to host community events that highlight its unique geography.
