The pageant starts on Thursday! We will be getting to know each contestant a little more each day leading up to the event. Let’s get to know Leann Murphy!
Practically born with boots on my feet and always have been a rodeo fan, my name is Leann Murphy and I am running for Miss Teen Rodeo Montana 2023. Born and raised in Great Falls, Montana, I attend CM Russell High School, where I am an honors student, member of our band, and am in two indigenous clubs. While I am the one and only daughter of Lowell and Ginger Murphy, those around me always become an extended family. I am an avid 4-H member, always completing a variety of projects, including many livestock animals, horses, veterinary science, home ec, and even a cat project! I am so grateful for 4-H and all of the skills, friendships, and opportunities it has given me on so many levels. At school, I am often considered the “horse girl”, because I always manage to fit a western style and belt buckle into my outfit. In the arena, I’m also considered a standout as I show three Appaloosa geldings, Spud, Tater, and Hashbrown in all-around events at open, 4-H, and breed shows. I spend lots of my summer at our local horse arena helping with kids summer camps. Within Cascade County, I am a junior horse and livestock leader, mentoring those around me and planning events. Helping others work toward their goals is so rewarding! It seems that medical offices love me, as I’m often asked to work in hearing and eye clinics. I have been figure skating competitively for about 7 years, and this winter I will also take on being a hockey official. Fun fact—the Great Falls Figure Skating Club is among the oldest in the nation, established in 1929! Although my plan for after graduation in 2025 seems to change everyday, currently I would like to complete schooling to become a Dosimetrist.
If I were to receive the honor to be your Miss Teen Rodeo Montana 2023, I would make it my goal to inspire generations of rodeo fans, competitors, and sponsors. I have always looked up to the outstanding women that we title Rodeo Queens, and it would be an amazing experience to become a figure to look up to, just like they’ve always been for me.
