Lights Fall in Semifinals Against University of Providence 72-70

The MSU-Northern Lights fall in the semifinals in the Frontier Conference Tournament against University of Providence 72-70 at the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls, Montana. The Lights didn’t get off to a great start, as they were down 15 points with 6:14 left in the game. Northern went on a 16-6 to cut into the lead going into halftime 33-28.

The Argo’s extended the lead back to 15 points at the start of the second half. The Lights went on a 14-2 run to cut the lead to three. Keltner put one down to tie the game 70-70 with 2:23 left in the game. Northern turned the ball over with :12 left. Curtis had a nice pass down to Olsen who made the layup to take the lead with :11 on the clock. The Lights had a chance to tie the game, but couldn’t get the shot to fall.

Individual Stats:

The Lights were led by Zackry Martinez, who went 12-19 from the field with 31 points. Jesse Keltner added 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds. CJ Nelson led the team in assists with five.

The Argo’s were led by Marcus Stephens, who had 17 points going 6 -14 from the field. He led the team in rebounds with eight. Jake Olsen shot 80 percent from the field with 17 points.

Stats of the Game:

The MSU-Northern Lights shot a field goal percentage of 45, 31 percent from the arc, and 75 percent from the free throw line.

Providence shot 53 percentage from the field, 35 percent from the 3-point line, and 62 percent from the free throw.

The Skylights so Far:

The Lights are 19-11 in the overall season and 7-8 in Conference.
