The City of Great Falls has announced upcoming partial street closures related to a sidewalk and streetscape project at the intersection of 7th Street South and 1st Avenue South. The city has contracted Smith River Construction to carry out the work, which is scheduled to take place from September 8, 2025, through January 6, 2026.

According to the city, lane restrictions will be in effect on 7th Street South between Central Avenue and 1st Avenue South. Additionally, there will be periodic closures of one lane on 1st Avenue South near its intersection with 7th Street South. Despite these restrictions, both directions of traffic on 7th Street South will remain open throughout the construction period. Parking on the east side of 7th Street South will be closed during this time.

Barricades, cones, and closure signs will be placed by the contractor to mark affected areas.

“The public’s patience and consideration during this process is appreciated. For more information about the 1st Ave. S/7th St. S Sidewalk Repair and Streetscape project, contact Amanda Brownlee, Senior Civil Engineer at 406-455-8122.”

The city encourages residents with questions or concerns about the project to reach out for further details.
