The River’s Edge Trail near the historic 10th Street Walking Bridge in Great Falls, Montana, will be temporarily closed for construction starting August 18, 2025. The closure is expected to last until September 30, 2025. The work will take place on the south end of the bridge.

According to the City of Great Falls Park and Recreation Department, Preservation Cascade, Inc. is funding the project. The planned construction includes removing the top layer of asphalt at the south end of the bridge and replacing it with a six-inch reinforced concrete slab. In addition, a concrete wall at that location will be demolished and replaced with a new wall and guardrails.

“This project will not affect traffic,” said Arthur Smovir, Trails Coordinator for Park and Recreation.
