U.S. Senator Steve Daines, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, has strongly criticized the Biden administration's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan for his recent comments accusing Montana’s Colstrip Power Plant of violating clean air quality standards.

In a statement issued today, Daines expressed his discontent with the accusations, stating, "The Biden administration’s accusation that Colstrip is ‘cheating the system’ is a reprehensible lie and an attack on Montanans and our Montana way of life. The crushing mandates and regulations the Biden EPA issued last week were bad enough. Now we know the Biden administration will flat out lie in order to enact its climate agenda."

The senator's remarks come in response to claims made by Administrator Regan, who accused the Colstrip Power Plant of not complying with clean air quality standards. Daines defended the plant by highlighting that Colstrip actually meets Montana state requirements for mercury emissions, which are even more stringent than the federal level.

The ongoing dispute between the Biden administration and supporters of the Colstrip Power Plant underscores the broader tensions surrounding environmental policies and energy regulations in the United States.

It remains to be seen how this conflict will unfold and whether any resolution can be reached between the stakeholders involved.
