U.S. Senator Steve Daines (R-Mont.) announced the formation of the Senate Central Asia Caucus on July 10, 2024. The Caucus aims to strengthen the United States' relationship with allies in Central Asia, increase trade and investment, and support regional stability and security as Central Asia faces growing influence from Russia, China, and Iran.

"Now more than ever it’s critical we strengthen our relationship with dependable allies in Central Asia," Daines stated. "After spending extensive time in the region meeting with leaders and as our adversaries grow emboldened, Senator Peters and I look forward to working together to improve trade relations, boost agricultural developments, address human trafficking and migration concerns, and increase national security partnerships."

The announcement was made during Uzbekistan Day on Capitol Hill. Senator Gary Peters (D-Mich.) is collaborating with Daines in launching the Caucus.
