U.S. Senator Steve Daines announced that several of his legislative priorities have been approved by the Senate as part of the "National Defense Authorization Act" (NDAA). The act includes provisions such as a pay raise for military personnel, reimbursement for travel expenses incurred by Reserve and National Guard troops, funding for Malmstrom's mission, construction authorizations for the Montana National Guard, and additional funds for Tech Hubs and the "Rip and Replace" program. The NDAA is now awaiting the President's signature to become law.

Daines emphasized the importance of supporting Montana servicemembers and enhancing national security. He stated, "Our Montana servicemembers have stepped up to serve our state and our country, and the NDAA is a chance to support those in uniform and bolster our national security." He highlighted efforts to address economic challenges faced by families due to inflation: "With the effects of Bidenflation still burdening families, I’m proud to secure a 14 and a half percent pay raise for junior enlisted men and women and a 4 and a half percent increase for the entire military."

Daines also expressed satisfaction with including reimbursement measures for Reserve and National Guard members' travel expenses in the bill. He concluded, "This year’s NDAA is good for Montana, good for our servicemembers and good for our national security."
