U.S. Senator Steve Daines has introduced new legislation aimed at safeguarding women's sports. The proposed "Fair Play for Girls Act" mandates that the U.S. Attorney General present an analysis of violence against women in athletics to Congress, alongside suggested measures to support female athletes.
Senator Daines also put forward two resolutions: one to establish October 10th as "American Girls in Sports Day," celebrating the achievements of female athletes, and another urging the NCAA to take steps to protect women's sports.
"The left is trying to erase women’s sports, but I’ll be pushing back every step of the way. It’s common sense that men do not belong in girls’ sports and I’m proud to fight for the safety and security of female athletes while also celebrating their accomplishments," said Daines.
The Fair Play for Girls Act seeks a comprehensive analysis from the U.S. Attorney General on violence against women in athletics, including policy recommendations to aid young female athletes.
The resolution directed at the NCAA calls for revocation of its transgender student-athlete eligibility policy. It urges member conferences to adopt a biological sex-based policy across all sports and divisions, emphasizing protection of women's sports for biological females.
Additionally, the "American Girls in Sports Day" resolution aims to recognize October 10 as a day dedicated to honoring female athletes' contributions and successes.
