The plan to expand career and technical ducation (CTE) in Montana has been given the green light from the federal government, according to Montana.gov.
The state will be given $6 million for the 2020-2021 program that targets high school and college students. The money will come via the federal Perkins V Act that backs CTE programs like agriculture, health care and hospitality, and welding. It will also pay for things like instructors and programs to meet each section’s needs.
Commissioner of Higher Education Clayton Christian said, "Montana.gov reported, “While Montana is already a national leader in initiatives to improve and expand CTE opportunities in our high schools and colleges, this continued funding is more critical than ever as the COVID-19 pandemic takes a toll on our state and national economies.
Christian additionally stressed the importance of Montana residents being able to benefit from education and training that can help them navigate through the job force.
