Box Elder issued the following announcement on July 14.
Plans have been finalized for this summer’s Phillips County Fair, set for July 30th through August 2nd in Dodson.
The scaled-back fair will not have a carnival due to COVID-19.
Fair Chairwoman Sue Olsen saysother precautions include socially distanced grandstand seating and sanitizer stations throughout the fairgrounds.
“Just plan to have lots of hand sanitizer around and face masks around. And we’ll mark bleachers off, certain ones you won’t sit in. And hopefully people will abide by that. They don’t have to, but we hope they will.”
Olsen says they have managed to book the band Kyle Shobe & The Walk Em’ Boys for the July 31st concert after country star Easton Corbin canceled his scheduled performance.
“He’s gonna play for an hour and a half. Then take a break and play for another hour and a half. It’ll be street dance music. That’ll be fun. We’ll still have some live music and they’re really good. He’s a Montana boy, so he’s not coming from out of state.”
Other grandstand events include Indian Relay Races and a Demolition Derby
Grandstand passes can be purchased during the fair for $50 and provide access to all grandstand events.
People can attend the 4-H livestock sale on the Saturday of the fair, but it will also be streamed live on Facebook.
As in previous years, there will be free transportation from Malta to Dodson during the fair.
