Cost of college went up for all students at Great Falls College Montana State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 4 percent for 2018-19 at Great Falls College Montana State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Montana residents paid $3,386 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $131 more than the $3,255 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 203.5 percent more than residents this year, or $10,278. Their price tag grew 4.7 percent from $9,819 in 2017-18.

About 97 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Montana residents. And about 3 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 80 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 83 students received grants or scholarships totaling $386,777 and 60 students took out student loans totaling more than $291,617.

Including all undergraduates (1,514), 805 students used grants or scholarships totaling $3.2 million, and 714 students took out $4.3 million in federal student loans.
