Twenty Montana businesses will receive Workforce Recovery grants to rehire employees who were laid off amid the economic impacts of the COVID-19 crisis, according to the Montana Department of Commerce.

The businesses that are chosen will share $895,000 to help support rehiring 152 full-time workers.

“Commerce launched the temporary Workforce Recovery program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to support businesses that are ready to rehire workers,” said Wayne Johnston, Business Assistance Bureau chief, in a press release. “This program is reimbursing businesses across Montana for rebuilding their workforce and bringing jobs back.”

The Big Sky Economic Development Trust Fund Workforce Recovery program has said it will reimburse a business for the wages for full-time, permanent employees. The jobs must be created and retained for six months. They will offer reimbursement for at least 25 jobs per business.

The reimbursement will be around $7,500 per job. However, the business must match up to $3,750 per job. The effort will help businesses stay afloat amid the negative impact of the coronavirus crisis that many companies face.
