Yesterday at about 6:30pm, volunteers responded to a report of smoke in the Jameson area East of White Sulphur Springs. Crews found active fire burning in grass and sagebrush. Fire was stopped at dark at about 190 acres. Suspected cause is lightning. Several engine crews and 2 graders returned this morning and spent the day lining the fire and extinguishing flare ups and hot spots.
Thanks to the engine crews from White Sulphur, Ringling, Checkerboard, Martinsdale, DNRC, and the Forest Service for responding to assist, and to Bill Galt for the helicopter work.
