U.S. Senator Steve Daines delivered remarks at the weekly Republican Senate Leadership press conference, criticizing President Joe Biden and Senate Democrats for issues such as inflation, border security, and foreign policy. The senator expressed concerns over what he described as failures in leadership and policy decisions.

"Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Senate Democrats have failed America. Don’t ask us, ask the American people," Daines stated. He recalled that when "Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office inflation was under control, the economy was strong thanks to Trump tax cuts and there were fewer government regulations."

Daines pointed out that since President Biden took office, Senate Democrats have passed nearly $3 trillion in spending. "They’ve also given us the highest inflation in 40 years," he said. According to Daines, many Montanans are struggling to afford basic necessities such as food, gas, and housing.

On border security, Daines criticized the administration for reversing Trump-era policies. "The border was secure when Biden and Harris took office," he noted. He further claimed that terrorists and criminals are crossing the border freely: "We see murderers coming across the border, literally murdering young women in our country."

Daines questioned Vice President Harris's role as 'border czar,' highlighting a lack of visible action despite numerous illegal crossings: "Where has she been? 10 million illegal crossings later, there’s been nothing done to end this crisis."

Regarding foreign policy, Daines accused the administration of projecting weakness on the world stage: "Enemies are emboldened. Our allies don’t think we’ll back them up." He blamed Senate Democrats for not countering what he termed dangerous policies from the current administration.

"The Democrats don’t have a personnel problem on the ticket; they have a policy problem," concluded Daines. He expressed confidence that Americans would address these issues in upcoming elections: "I’m confident the American people will right this ship in less than four months."
