U.S. Senator Steve Daines has expressed approval following the Senate's passage of his bill, S.3373. The legislation allows for an extension of FERC hydropower projects that were licensed before March 2020, granting them an additional four years to begin construction. This extension aims to assist projects in Montana and across the United States that have been delayed due to supply chain issues.

Senator Daines emphasized the importance of a diverse energy portfolio, stating, "Montanans know that an all-of-the-above energy portfolio is best, and that includes hydropower." He highlighted the significance of supporting Montana's hydropower initiatives as crucial for energy security, job creation in the state, and maintaining low costs for families. "I’m glad to see my bill to ensure these projects can be completed pass the U.S. Senate," he added.

A video released by Daines discusses the role of Flathead Electric Co-op and underscores the importance of hydropower.
