U.S. Senator Steve Daines, along with 15 Republican colleagues, has addressed a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi at the United States Department of Justice. The senators are urging the reversal of policies from the Biden administration that they believe discriminate against the firearm and ammunition industry.

The letter highlights concerns over what is perceived as "ongoing, intentional discrimination" against this industry by private entities in sectors such as financial services, insurance, and shipping. The senators argue that past administrations have implemented policies that undermine Second Amendment rights.

They urge the DOJ to include in its action plan a provision to stop awarding federal contracts to entities discriminating against the firearm and ammunition industry. The senators state, "Under no circumstance should taxpayer dollars from hard-working Americans be used to deny those very taxpayers their Constitutionally protected rights."

The signatories of the letter alongside Daines include Senators Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.), Bill Cassidy (R-La.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Jim Justice (R-W.V.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) and John Hoeven (R-N.D.).
