U.S. Senator Steve Daines has announced that his bill aimed at keeping Montana's Bull Mountains Mine operational has garnered approval from the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. The bill, receiving bipartisan support, marks a significant advancement towards becoming law.

Senator Daines emphasized the importance of the mine to the community, stating, "The Bull Mountains Mine near Roundup, Montana, is the lifeblood of Musselshell County, providing more than 250 jobs for hardworking Montanans and a massive boost to the local economy. I am glad to see my bill pass the ENR Committee and move one step closer to the President’s desk. I’ll always fight to support Made-In-Montana energy and protect Montana jobs."

Introduced in March 2025, the bill, known as S.362, seeks to enable the mining of specific sections of federal minerals, thereby allowing the Bull Mountains Mine to continue its operations. Senator Daines has been an active advocate for ongoing mine operations, underscoring its significance for the state of Montana.

The progression of this bill is an important step towards ensuring the livelihood of Montanans dependent on the mine. The proposal now awaits further consideration before potentially reaching the President's desk for final approval.
