CHIPPEWA CREE INDIAN NATION issued the following announcement.
Outdoor Flea Market
The Virgelle Merc was originally constructed by the Blankenbakers. It was constructed as a two-story general store and living quarters from which to sell groceries and other necessities to the earliest residents of Virgelle. The store, opening its doors in the early 1900s, operated until 1970 when its doors were officially closed and the town was left as little more than a ghost town.
In 1975 a local pharmacist saw the shops potential and decided to reopen its doors. It was then that it was re-opened as "The Merc" as an antiques business, and the upstairs rooms were converted into a welcoming Bed and Breakfast.
The Annual Outdoor Flea Market offers a variety of vendors displaying their wares for sale on a single day. Stop by the historic general store!
