U.S. Senator Steve Daines spoke on Fox Business' "Varney & Co" to discuss the necessity of making President Trump's tax cuts permanent in order to prevent a significant tax increase for Americans. Daines highlighted the extent of the potential tax rise, which he identified as a $4 trillion increase unless legislative action is taken. "The reason they need to be made permanent is because tax cuts are a means to an end, and that’s economic growth, that’s wage growth," Daines stated, emphasizing the need to remove uncertainties from Washington. He added, "There’ll be a tremendous boost to the economy. One of the number one complaints I hear from businesses is the uncertainty of the tax code. Let’s make it permanent. That’ll help growth."

Discussing federal spending, Daines mentioned examples of misuse and inefficiency, citing Elon Musk's work with DOGE as an illustration. "We’re going to be spending over $7 trillion this year in the federal government. When you talk about a $2 trillion cut in spending, that’s actually over 10 years," Daines explained. He urged that reducing spending should be as much a priority as cutting taxes.

Daines also spoke on the strategic importance of Greenland, recalling his visit to a crucial military installation there. "That military installation is a very important early warning system for early detection of a missile launch from an adversary," he said, explaining its strategic value to the U.S. defense. He expressed support for President Trump's attention to national security, particularly in light of global threats, and acknowledged JD Vance's planned visit to the site.
