Montana is seeing a downward trend in its unemployment rate, which dropped by 0.9% in August to 5.6%, Gov. Steve Bullock said.
The state's rate is one of the lowest in the nation, according to a press release from the State of Montana.
“Montana continues to outperform the national economy in our economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” Bullock said in the press release. “If we continue to come together to fight this virus, we can keep Montana’s workers and business owners healthy and safe and further our economic recovery.”
The unemployment rate is the seventh lowest of all 50 states, with the state adding 713 more jobs in August.
"Total employment includes payroll, agricultural and self-employed workers," the state said in the press release. "Payroll employment increased by 400 jobs in August. The largest gains in payroll jobs occurred in federal government employment due to hiring for the U.S. Census."
