U.S. Senator Steve Daines appeared on Fox News' "America’s Newsroom" with Bill Hemmer and Dana Perino to discuss the current state of the nation under President Joe Biden's administration.
Daines expressed his concerns about the country's direction, stating, "Well, look, we are four and a half months away from the most consequential election certainly in my lifetime, if not a couple of generations. I mean, the country is spiraling out of control: the highest prices in 40 years, chaos abroad, an invasion on our southern border, some 10 million illegals, including now we’re seeing terrorists who’ve been apprehended in the last 48 hours who are plotting to hit soft sites across America. This is so important."
He emphasized the need for leadership change and mentioned an upcoming meeting with former President Donald Trump. "And when we meet with President Trump today, it’s time to roll up our sleeves and talk about what we are going to do to put this country back on a path to greatness. It’s going to be about unleashing American energy, lowering prices, securing the border," Daines said.
Daines further stressed that these issues are solvable with appropriate leadership. "These are all solvable problems; we just have to have the right leader, like President Trump. And importantly, a Republican U.S. Senate. It’s the most important thing we can give the President is a Republican-led U.S. Senate because in the Senate we uniquely have the responsibility of personnel. All the Cabinet appointments, Supreme Court nominations, that will go through the Republican Senate. That’s why we’ll be working closely together and I’m looking forward to the discussion today when he visits us."
