The logo honors a Blackfeet chief from Montana, and its removal has sparked debate over cultural representation.

Daines emphasized the support from the Blackfeet Tribe of Montana, noting that their chairman and tribal council have advocated for the logo's return. He stated, "We were calling out leaders in a case of really woke gone wrong. The irony that they were canceling Native American culture as the DEI movement went way too far."

The senator highlighted ongoing discussions with the NFL and the Commanders, indicating positive progress toward reinstating the logo. He mentioned potential plans for revenue generated by the logo to benefit Native Americans in sports.

Daines recently addressed this issue at the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, sharing insights into negotiations involving the team, NFL representatives, and stakeholders such as the Wetzel family.
