U.S. Senator Steve Daines, in honor of Flag Day, continued his ongoing effort to protect the American flag by urging Congress to pass his constitutional amendment aimed at criminalizing its physical desecration.

"The American flag is recognized across the world as a symbol of hope and freedom, and it reminds us of the great sacrifices that American heroes have made underneath the Stars and Stripes," said Daines. "This year in honor of Flag Day, I’m calling on Congress to pass my constitutional amendment to prohibit the physical desecration of the American flag."

Daines has led this initiative through multiple congressional sessions, including the 115th, 116th, 117th, and 118th Congresses. In 2018, he commemorated national Flag Day on the floor of the U.S. Senate by emphasizing his constitutional amendment to ban the burning of the American flag. The American Legion of Montana supports this legislation.
