U.S. Senator Steve Daines has announced his committee assignments for the 119th Congress. Daines will serve on four U.S. Senate Committees: Finance, Foreign Relations, Energy and Natural Resources, and Indian Affairs.

“It’s an honor to serve Montanans in the U.S. Senate and I’m looking forward to working with my colleagues on these crucial committees to fight for our Montana way of life," Daines stated. He added that he aims to work towards enacting President Trump's agenda which includes efforts to "unleash American energy, cut taxes, open overseas markets for Montana farmers and ranchers, improve America’s relationships abroad, bring down costs for hardworking families, secure the southern border and stem the flow of deadly drugs.”

The U.S. Senate Committee on Finance deals with policies related to taxation, revenue measures, customs, trade agreements, tariffs, transportation of dutiable goods, health programs under the Social Security Act such as Medicare and Medicaid, among others.

The U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations plays a key role in shaping United States foreign policy by considering treaties and legislation and holding jurisdiction over diplomatic nominations.

The U.S. Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources oversees energy resources and development including regulation and conservation; nuclear energy; forest management; public lands; surface mining; federal coal, oil, gas leasing; territories; insular possessions; and water resources.

Lastly, the U.S. Senate Committee on Indian Affairs studies issues unique to American Indian, Native Hawaiian, and Alaska Native peoples proposing legislation aimed at alleviating these challenges. It covers areas like education, economic development, land management, trust responsibilities, health care, and claims against the United States.
