U.S. Senator Steve Daines recently appeared on Larry Kudlow's Fox Business show to discuss President Trump's agenda before a scheduled meeting with Senate Republicans on Capitol Hill.
Daines expressed his admiration for President Trump, stating, "There’s never been a more influential leader in America than President Trump. At this moment, he’s 12 days away from being sworn in, yet he is the de facto president of the United States as we speak. But even beyond that, he’s the most powerful, influential leader in the world and he’s coming up to Capitol Hill to meet with us in about an hour."
The Senator emphasized the urgency of delivering results for the American people. He highlighted issues such as securing the border and preventing a potential $4 trillion tax increase in 2026 if Congress does not act by 2025.
Regarding legislative strategy, Daines commented on passing a reconciliation bill: "Look what President Trump is doing. He’s actively engaged, his hands are dirty, he’s working close with the House members, coming up here and working with the U.S. Senate. That is real leadership." He stressed the importance of swift action and keeping options open for either one or two bills to achieve their goals.
Daines concluded by underscoring key numbers necessary for legislative success: "That’s why the two magic numbers, Larry, are 218 in the House, 51 in the Senate."
