U.S. Senator Steve Daines has introduced two legislative proposals aimed at addressing child trafficking issues at the southern border. The first proposal, titled the "End Child Trafficking Now Act," mandates familial DNA testing for individuals at the border to help identify and protect children from trafficking.
The second proposal, known as the "Preventing the Recycling of Immigrants is Necessary for Trafficking Suspension (PRINTS) Act," seeks to combat a practice referred to as "child recycling." This act would grant U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) the authority to fingerprint non-citizens under 14 years old at the border.
Senator Daines expressed his concerns about current border policies, stating, “Biden’s failure on the border crisis has resulted in a humanitarian crisis and the exploitation of our innocent children by gangs and cartels.” He emphasized the need for these measures by adding, “We must put an end to this sickening practice that allows criminals to exploit and recycle our most vulnerable.”
Both pieces of legislation are part of efforts to address what Daines describes as a significant humanitarian issue involving criminal exploitation of children.
