U.S. Senator Steve Daines has reintroduced the "Academic Partnerships Lead Us to Success (A-PLUS) Act" in honor of National School Choice Week. The bill aims to allocate education tax dollars directly to Montana parents, teachers, and local leaders.

"Bureaucrats in Washington don’t know Montana students like Montana parents and teachers do," stated Daines. "That’s why our education tax dollars should be spent by Montanans on Montanans. The future is brighter when our students are receiving high-quality local education from the ones who know their individual needs."

The legislation is supported by several senators including James Lankford, Marsha Blackburn, Cynthia Lummis, Bill Hagerty, Kevin Cramer, Joni Ernst, Eric Schmitt, Ted Cruz, Ron Johnson, Tim Sheehy, Mike Rounds, and Ted Budd.

Congressman John R. Moolenaar plans to introduce a corresponding bill in the U.S. House of Representatives. He commented on the importance of state and local governments understanding their students' needs better than federal bureaucrats: "The A Plus Act sends money back to the states so state and local governments can address their educational needs as they see fit. This legislation cuts burdensome red-tape and moves funding closer to parents and students."

The full text of the bill is available for review.
