U.S. Senator Steve Daines recently appeared on Fox Business' "The Bottom Line" to discuss President Trump's recent address to Congress. Daines expressed his views on the current administration's progress and its impact on American optimism.
Reflecting on President Trump's State of the Union Address, Daines stated, "Well, it’s just remarkable how fast this administration is moving. It feels like every hour here is a new day in the Trump world, with how quickly they’re getting results- dramatic results in terms of shutting down that southern border." He highlighted the reduction in illegal crossings and improvements in military recruitment as signs of returning optimism.
Daines also addressed President Trump's actions against fentanyl trafficking. He said, "First and foremost, you ask, 'What is the goal of the President in these tariffs with Mexico and with Canada?' It’s to protect our country. He’s addressing the fentanyl crisis." Daines emphasized the significant amount of fentanyl seized at both borders and supported using tariffs as leverage to combat this issue.
On economic investments under Trump's leadership, Daines remarked, "I think an important metric that has not been talked about enough is the amount of investment that’s already started to occur...some $2 trillion of investment announced in America." He credited these investments for boosting investor confidence and promoting an America-first agenda.
Discussing foreign policy, particularly concerning Israel's security, Daines commented on Trump's approach: "President Trump did not stutter with those remarks. He was very clear...There’s one way that you protect Israel- by being strong." Daines underscored strength as a crucial factor in dealing with threats from groups like Hamas and Hezbollah.
