The Great Falls Police Department (GFPD) has commenced a construction project in its lobby, as announced today. The work is expected to last around four weeks and aims to enhance safety and efficiency for both staff and the public. Despite the ongoing construction, the lobby remains accessible.

Visitors can still enter through the main doors on the north side of the department. Inside, they will find a temporary window set up immediately upon entry. Construction markers are present, but access to services such as dropping off video evidence or using the direct telephone line to the Communications Center remains unaffected.

This project is partially funded by a grant from the State Local Infrastructure Partnership (SLIPA), established by the Montana State Legislature under House Bill 355 in 2023. SLIPA funds require a 25% match from local government infrastructure projects.

Approval for this project and grant submission was granted by the City Commission in March 2024, with SLIPA funds allocated on April 19th, 2024. The contract was awarded to Guy Tabacco Construction on December 3rd, 2024, for $67,042.50, necessitating a $21,250 match from the GFPD Building Maintenance Fund.

The GFPD expressed anticipation for improved interactions at their front counter post-construction and thanked citizens for their patience during this period.
