U.S. Senator Steve Daines recently held discussions with Mike Huckabee, President Trump's nominee for Ambassador to Israel. Daines expressed his approval of Huckabee's support for the U.S.-Israel relationship and emphasized the importance of peace through strength.

During their conversation, Daines highlighted the significance of fostering peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia. He stated, "Governor Huckabee, I want to jump into the issue of Israel. I think this is perhaps the single most important relationship we have on the earth- the relationship with the United States of America and Israel." He further discussed his experiences in Israel prior to an attack on October 7th and stressed the importance of normalizing relations between Israel and U.S. partners like Saudi Arabia.

Huckabee responded by affirming President Trump's goal for lasting peace in the Middle East: "The President has made it very clear that his goal is to see a real and lasting peace in the entire Middle East."

Daines also addressed concerns about foreign military sales pending at the State Department. He remarked on past optimism during Trump’s first term due to initiatives like the Abraham Accords but noted a shift during subsequent years under Biden's administration.

He asked Huckabee if he would commit to advancing these sales, to which Huckabee replied, "Senator, if confirmed, it would be a delight and privilege to work with the Secretary, the President, and the Department of Defense to ensure that we continue the commitment that we’ve already made... And yes, I would commit to that."
